This are two old scans I found in my inspirations folder. I don’t remember the magazines where they come from but aren’t they beautiful?

This weekend my friend Ursula and I took a little trip up to Letterpress Things in Massachusets. The shop is really amazing, well organized and stocked with all things letterpress, including some presses.

As soon as I arrived I spotted three table top presses,  two Kelseys ( a 5×8 and a 6×10) and a 6×10 Craftsman calling my name. We were there two and hald hours and while buying this and that I debated wheather I should buy one the presses. I decided on the Kelsey but seconds before walking out changed my mind and came home empty handed. Well, not  exactly empty handed, I bought furniture, some metal type and a bounch of other goodies but with none of the presses calling my name.

I am really confused since I talked myself out of getting the 6×10 Kelsey seconds before walking out of the store. I started thinking I should invest in a better press but then got overwhelmed by what getting the Craftsman press would mean since we live in 4th floor walk-up apartment that is not exactly huge. How would we get it up? Where would I put it? and for some reason, instead of getting the Kelsey which was my initial idea I just walked out! What is wrong with me?!?

Now I have to decide, should I go back for the Kelsey? or should I wait it out for a “better press”?

Last week I took a wood type intensive workshop at the Arm to be able to use the studio’s rare collection of type. During the class I printed a couple of things including this friendly reminder not to worry too much (currently sitting on Marco’s desk)

I  am very happy with the result and since I printed more than a few I am adding some to our shop and giving away three* to the first people to leave us a comment here and like us on facebook, so if you like what you see –hurry!

*frame and angry alien not included.

This poster was made with our new wood type and a couple of linoleum blocks I carved this weekend. I forgot that carving requires patience and lots of love so I ended up having to do the same blocks twice.

The first time I was rushing and it takes a while to get the hang of it.

I though it would be like riding a bicicle but it has been six years since i learned at FIT!
